Good medicine

19 Dec

Shelby rocks!

Sometimes office assistants need medical attention.  Our dilemma has been that Shelby has lost weight due to chronic gum inflammation.  Several shots of cortisone provided temporary relief.  A couple of weeks ago we tried and alternative solution available from Custom Med Apothecary, LLC.  Shelby gets a very small dose of medicine daily in chicken flavored tablets that he loves.

Custom Med prepares special medication for people and animals!  The niche market this business serves has tremendous potential.  http://www.custommed.net/

Helping Hands Year 2

28 Aug

Simplicity 2228

Hot off the sewing machine are eight size 8 dresses of a light weight cotton.  Grossbain ribbon threads through the front and back to tie at the shoulders.

See & Sew B5592

These four size 7 dresses were completed first using fabric left over from last year’s project.  I prefer working with the batik print fabric.

Just say no the cat rug

Shelby takes his role as office assistant seriously.  He is on the board!  Cutting board.  More product will be revealed in future posts.

We are shipping to South Africa in December for delivery by “Helping Hands Touching Hearts” in January to Mozambique.

Catnip

22 Aug

Catnip before the first cutting

The small lavender catnip blooms are a big attraction for bees.  As I understand from a friend, it also attracts cats to the garden.  I have seen one stray cat so far.  My office assistants (Shelby and Eve) are offered the dried catnip.

Cat nip gift bags

I decided to prepare gift bags to share my first harvest with friends with cats.

Cat nip infusion jar

This infusion jar idea came from my friend Julie.  The purpose is to refresh cat toys (often prepared with catnip scent).  The toys gradually lose their scent and cats lose interest.  The infusion jar works!  Happy office assistants 🙂

Screen

25 Jun

Front porch

The screen is new.  Why didn’t we do this years ago?  (The foundation plantings were over grown.)  Could we say “tricked out”  with ceiling fan, new rocking chairs plus table, “candle”labra, wind chime and the porch swing Pap-pa Hall made over 25 years ago.  It is delightful to watch Shelby relate to all the sights and sounds of the outdoors.  He stays on high alert.

Exit left

Next project

What could this be?  The new gate is part of the plan.

More about prayer shawls

12 Apr

Labor of love

This is the fourth prayer shawl that Shelby and I made and this one is for me….or should I say “us”?  It is a mushroom colored lamb’s wool blend.

Our fifth one is a new pattern for us.  We moved up to intermediate skill level.  This is a first with the cable pattern.  It is made of a lamb’s wool blend with shimmer.  The color is “White Frost”.  The pattern features the number 12 with repeating rows and tassels.

Inspired by the concept of applying care, concern and prayers to knitting shawls is like a ministry to me this year.
