Kodak Gallery: Elizabeth’s Gallery

20 Apr

Last week I learned how to combine uploaded photos into a slide show, which is a great function when you want to share more than a few photos in a post.  I went back and applied a slide show to a post from last year on “alphabet photography” that did not format well.

Then, I noticed a new feature on Kodak Gallery!  They have website space for account holders to publish albums for sharing which short cuts the login process normally required……So, here I go!  This time last year, I had two adventures in the hunt for spring wildflowers one in Indiana and one in Delaware.  “Spring wildflowers 2011” captures our sightings and more.  This was very educational and great fun!  Enjoy 🙂

Looking back…

5 Jan

Time for reflection, evaluation and dreaming.  I took time this week to revise my “About” page with highlights from 2011.

It  occurred to me today that two years ago I was sitting in a waiting room and discovered Spoonflower.  Spoonflower.com produces custom fabrics printed with images provided by individual customers.  I did not waste much time to come up with favorite photos to see how the process worked.  They require you order a swatch sample to approve of the results.  My bill was $61.90.  Your designs are designated for private or public availability.

My first Spoonflower order

My favorite sample

My favorite sample image is this close up of tree bark.  Dilemma!  Now what do I do?  The only things I had sewn in the past 30 years were curtains, pillow covers and a difficult slip cover project.

Coincidence?  I had an email from Sidney about the sewing challenge Helping Hands, Touching Hearts made to give a handmade article of clothing to each person in a village of 1200 adults and children.  Win-Win.  I had accumulated a fabric stash that could be put to good use plus I could improve my sewing skills.  Elfcroft shipped one large flat rate box to South Africa in both 2010 and 2011.

Maybe it is about time to get back to Spoonflower.com.  The Jan/Feb 2012 issue of cloth*paper*scissors magazine has an article on printing custom fabric which features Spoonflower.

I just noticed that I have created 61 cards @ www.kodakgallery.com since April of 2007.  The accordion style cards are great for telling my short stories like CAP National Competition, rock climbing, Rambo or even a wedding announcement.  However, it looks like my winner (or most often used) is the basic customizable 5″X7″ single fold for birthdays.

The coincidence is that my 62nd card order is for a 1961 birth date.  🙂

Cupcakes say Happy Birthday!

Roaming for wild flowers

Another opportunity to photograph spring wildflowers!

My first opportunity was in Dottie Miller’s backyard a couple of weeks ago.  We consolidated our digital photographs and prepared a photobook on Kodakgallery.com.

Today my sister and I found three Jack-in-the-Pulpits in her front yard in Malvern, PA.

Focus on patterns and they seem all around you!  These photos, even the entire alphabet were found in my backyard (and front).

Story Telling

30 Nov

I am very fond of the accordion fold cards offered by www.Kodakgallery.com. It took a while to get the knack of staging 5 to 7 photos to tell a story. The option for text is very helpful.

However, accordion fold cards have a limited audience. I hear blogging has nearly no limits. Let’s see.
