Turkey Run State Park hiking trail (foot traffic only) AKA Narrows Covered Bridge
Modern concrete bridge directly behind the original covered one (notice the arches).

Downstream view

Built in 1882. The purpose of covering the bridge was to extend the life of the wooden supporting beams (safety).

I love covered bridges. I have only been across 1 in my life. I find them fascinating. Love this post.
Parke County has a couple of dozen. The crowds during the festival are huge. We like to check them out when the weather is nice and we don’t have to fight for a parking space.
Interesting. I never knew the purpose for covering a bridge.
