Land of the Free, Home of the Brave

US Naval Academy

Happy Fourth of July

Ten years ago, we had the privilege of touring the US Naval Academy in Annapolis with a WWII veterans group.  Here are a few highlights from that trip…special access…lunch in the dining hall with cadets, tour of the chapel, seeing the cadets march to football game in their dress whites and last but not least attending the Evening Parade at the Marine Corps Barracks (George and Laura Bush were in attendance).

Happy 4th to you and Dave. My dad was in WWII also. He saw some bad stuff and didn’t talk about what he saw but twice and wouldn’t not talk about anymore. My mother said he would wake up and have night mares from what he saw. All of the night mares passed with in time and it wasn’t until 30 years he told me what he saw. He was close friends with the company photographer who took some pictures and I had them for a while and I then gave them to my brother. I can tell you they were awful. I know your tour and the veterans you have talked to and read there stories have been very interesting. I think your tour was very interesting and very satisficing to take. good post for today.
