“The Gambler,” the Grammy-winning story song penned by Don Schlitz, came out in 1978 and became his signature song with a signature refrain: “You gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ’em.”  In my humble opinion, that line applies in life to more than card games.  (I have been known to quote it.)

Another personal note:  1987 I was astounded by an interview KR did promoting a recently published book.  Amazing professional photography, KR included personal notes about the photo shoots and subjects….80 leading citizens.  Three subjects are former U.S. Presidents.

Woo!Hoo!  My sister was in Atlanta that year and got an autographed copy for me.

One of the joys of having a personal library.  RIP KR

These beautiful students sang, recognized each veteran by name with a pin and card, and applauded.  A slide show featured larger than life photos of each veteran.  (Charles Frazee had five photos :).  Each grade sang the song for the Army, Navy, AirForce, Marine Corp and Coast Guard.  The first graders sang the Marine Corp Hymn.  The fourth graders finished with “Anchors Away”.  “Taps” was played to honor those who died in service.

Very proud day to be an American!  God bless the USA.

Sometimes it helps to refer to Wilhem’s translation of the I Ching Hexagrams…No. 32 Duration…”The way of husband and wife must not be other than long lasting.” (p.545).  A 60th wedding anniversary absolutely qualifies!  Mom and Dad are going for 75!

The most beautiful examples of “dispersion” (I can think of) are the stunning Chihuly glass sculptures displayed through out public gardens.  These photos were taken in Dallas in 2012.

“Youthful Folly” is Wilhelm’s translation, which also includes “hopeless entanglement” in the text.  I appreciate David Hinton’s translation of “thicket” as a concise visual.  I found this thicket on my walk in the woods.
