Mask you say…from a bandana?

6 Apr

The possibilities…for starters:

My stash of 24…all washed and ironed!

Cowboy style?  Perhaps with red or blue ones…not tie dye, pink camouflage, commercial or holiday.

I like the idea of having one around my neck and quickly pulling it up over nose and mouth.  A triangle fold make for at least 2 layer coverage, if not 4 layers with another fold.  Recommendations are to wash after each use.

My favorite application for bandanas is a drawstring bag.  I made one in Girl Scouts kept it for years.  That one was inspiration for birthday party favors in the 90s (before digital photography).  Check out this post by

Shining Start for the New Year

21 Jan

30 year old Oak parquet flooring

WooHoo!  Dull and spotted.  Enough was enough.  I found Weiman’s High Traffic Wood Floor Cleaner and Polish on Amazon. I cleaned and polished on hands and knees with cloth (for cleaning car exteriors).  Truth be told…I paced myself cleaning this area and kitchen over six days.   Bonus, there is NO strong aroma.

Over the years, I kept partial bottles of Rejuvenate, Pledge, Orange Glo and Murphy’s Oil Soap to remind me “what NOT to buy/try again”.  Now disposed, Yes!  BONUS decluttering!  I don’t need the reminder….. now that I know how well Weiman’s two step process works.

I will use these pads on my Swiffer next time.  YES!  No knees!

From Houzz: Housework as Meditation? Really?

I consider sewing and knitting activities for meditation.  Housework as meditation would be a new attitude for me.  It’s worth a try 😉

Hot Dog! A New Sink

18 Jul
Hot dog!  An old fashioned exclamation of pleasure plus the introduction to my short story.

Best value!  $1.5o foot long hot dog and soda at Costco stores (Note:  chicken caesar salads are also great for $4).  We shared this opinion with Mom, who said she had not had a hot dog in a long time.  Next thing we know, she and Dad ate hot dogs when they ate out and bought some at the grocery.  Of course when we go to the grocery, we are thinking hot dogs and buy some to take home.  The twist in the story comes, when we discovered all our condiments had expired (it had been that long since we had hot dogs at home).
I proceed to empty contents in the compost bin, some went thru the disposal, followed by disposing the bottles for recycling.  A couple of days later…under the old sink…it smells like ketchup and mustard.  The disposal failed.  New disposal ordered…hmmm…outlet and hoses and connections should be updated…might as well replace the sink too!  (The almond finish of the old sink went with the appliances we replaced 10 years ago.)  One thing leads to another and it may start with hot dogs.  Happy National Hot Dog Day 2017, Wednesday July 19th!

Hop to it!

Spring to action!  I’ve been on a mission to have properly cleaned windows.

One part:  Fun planter (a gift from years ago) as a “bucket” for supplies

Main part:  New recipe for homemade window cleaner!!! (link below)

Three parts:  Accessories…gloves, paper towels, window scraper

All by the door, ready to “Hop to it!”

Obviously not a bucket

This says the secret ingredient is alcohol…I thought it was Dawn dishwashing soap.
